A number of our partnering churches run training programmes aimed at students or interns over the age of 18. These programmes vary in duration and start at different times of the year, depending on location. While each of the programmes is uniquely structured, they all have the same heart – to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. Each training programme offers the life-changing opportunity for students to not only receive practical and theoretical training but serve within the local church and be discipled on a personal level. You can discover more about these exciting programmes via the listing below.
Ready Aim Fire is a 6-month media training program run by Oxygen Life Church in Gqeberha (former PE), South Africa. The program is for anyone who would like to learn from experienced industry professionals who love God, love His church and have a desire to spread the Gospel and make disciples through media. The following will be covered: AV, sound and camera, graphic design, photography, videography, scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, video editing and sound production. Students will gain a realistic understanding of the industry and be biblically discipled in how to use their gifts.
The goal at READY AIM FIRE isn’t to train up believers to become great communicators to rise to prominence in society, but to use the tools at our disposal to glorify our King and make His Name known! In his letter to the Colossian church, Paul gave this instruction: “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:16-17, NIV)
The name READY AIM FIRE comes from the great commission in Matthew 28, where Jesus commanded His followers to go and make disciples of all nations. Our heart likewise is to see students get ready, take aim in the purposes of God and get fired into the nations, using media as a tool to impact many lives.
Altitude is a ministry of Oxygen Life Church based in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The programme has been established on the belief that training and equipping men and women to seek the things above, will lead to a greater outpouring of the power of God through the church, into the city and beyond.
The name Altitude is a reflection of the desire to go up – not in pride or position, but in seeking first the interests of the kingdom of God. It’s a kingdom above the kingdoms of this world, and God is looking for a generation that will let the reality of the heavenly kingdom inform their approach to the earthly one.
More than ever, this world needs people who will follow the upward call of God. This one year programme involves practical hands-on teaching and training in ministry. Students will serve in areas of church life, outreaches into schools, rural areas, and other local Four12 partnering churches. It also includes times of fun journeying together as a team.
Altitude also has a second-year programme for those feeling God stir them to refine their call to leadership and ministry.
Timothy Ministry Training (TMT) is a discipleship-based programme aimed at training students for life and ministry. As a ministry of Joshua Generation Church (JoshGen) the training takes place within the context of the local church situated in Wellington, South Africa.
Students will have the opportunity to sit under the teaching of men and women from within JoshGen as well as Four12 partnering churches. Following the example set by Jesus, the training is both theoretical and practical. Jesus first taught His followers, then He showed them how; He first did it with them and then sent them out into the world to do it themselves. The training follows a four-pronged approach: learning about God (Biblical Studies), building relationally (Christian Living), the world (Culture) and the church (Church Life).
One of the most appreciated aspects of TMT is that students get to experience teaching, outreaches, and day-to-day living as a team, creating life-long memories and friendships. TMT facilitates the growth of students, developing them to walk as people of character, with a dynamic relationship with God, and effective in whatever they set out to do.
After the first year, there is an opportunity for students to apply for the second year of training focused on full-time ministry and church leadership. This is followed by an internship year where students are placed in a local congregation to love and serve in the area of their passion and gifting.
Year of Your Life (YOYL) is a full-time one-year internship dedicated primarily to serving Living Hope Church on the Isle of Man. The programme is aimed at committed Christians, 18 years and older who are fully on board with the vision and heart of Living Hope.
Each intern will have a role that requires them to serve for at least 35 hours a week in a variety of areas across Living Hope. This includes areas such as youth work, children’s work and administration, as well as weekend services and special events. In addition to their serving hours, interns will typically receive 2- 4 hours a week of theological or ministry training.
Their role will be attached to one of the seven Living Hope congregations and will be managed by that congregation’s eldership team. Each intern will also be hosted by a family on the Isle of Man.
All interns can expect their faith to be challenged and built up through serving, mentorship and being exposed to leadership meetings on a regular basis and they will serve on the YOYL team alongside other like-minded young people. The programme includes weekly times set aside for building and having fun together as a team, making the most of the outdoors experiences that the Isle of Man has to offer.
