6500km in Africa

In June/July of 2015, a group of 15 men from across the JoshGen went on a 17 day adventure and outreach through South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia. We journeyed by car, and in total travelled just over 6500 km, without even one flat or break-down between the two vehicles.

God was so faithful throughout the trip and we experienced his provision and moving through us. For instance, at one filling station a total stranger blessed us by filling our fuel tanks at her own cost. We also saw God move throughout the time, confirming His Word with testimonies of impacted hearts, love shared and even demons fleeing!

As part of the outreach, we visited Peter Chanda and the church in Livingstone, Zambia. We had meetings on two evenings, and then took up the challenge to go out onto the streets and to share our faith with complete strangers. We trusted that God would show us to be men and women of peace, just as in Luke 10, when the disciples were sent by Jesus to minister. We experienced friendly open people who had a hunger for God, resulting in 10 first time conversions. All of us just realised how stretching it was, but also how better equipped we now feel to walk in boldness and to share our faith.

We also enjoyed every moment of exploring Africa and it’s beauty by visiting the Victoria Falls, Etosha Game Reserve and camping in the bush next to the Zambezi and Okovango rivers. Every night around the campfire was an unforgettable time of fellowship, Bible study, prayer, testimonies, worship and lekka food!

At the end of our journey we joined a group of JoshGenners for the Four12 Conference in Keetmanshoop, Namibia. It was amazing to see the hunger in the hearts of the people of this beautiful land.

After just over 2 weeks of travel and reaching out, we returned home tired, but praising God for the grace to be used by Him.

I want to encourage you to join us for our next outreach into Africa. Begin to save up and trust God. It’ll be an awesome opportunity to grow in your faith and be used by God. Let’s start planning for next year!
