Revelation 12: 11
“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
Take 17 crazy young people (except Lance McIntosh- though young at heart), from Joshua Generation Church who love Jesus, put them together into two busses on a youth outreach into the Southern and Eastern Cape of South Africa (Four12 partnering churches) and you are guaranteed one wild journey.
Our first destination was Mosselbay where we headed up the Joshua Generation Church Southern Cape Youth Gathering. What an amazing youth gathering it turned out to be with youthies from Swellendam, Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay. The night was filled with lots of fun, great times of worship and Lance sharing on the Father heart of God. 4 Teenagers committed their lives to Jesus for the first time. A special moment on the night was when we gave a Study Bible to a young man who desires to preach God’s word. The elders came forward and prayed for him and there was a sense that it was a life changing moment for that young man.
On Saturday morning we had a great time equipping the youth leaders as well as the outreach team on leadership and stewarding the gifts God had given us. Saturday afternoon we joined the Southern Cape Gathering where some of the people on the team served at children’s church and some heard Andrew Selley preach for the first time.
Sunday morning we joined the Joshua Generation congregation on Mossel Bay. After the meeting we hit the road again all the way to Port Elizabeth (PE). When we arrived in ‘PE’ we immediately joined our Four12 family at Oxygen Life Church for their evening service.
The week in PE was jam packed with a full schedule from ministry, going into schools and preaching the Gospel, being equipped and getting to do some sightseeing in PE. God opened up so many opportunities- twice we got invited back to continue sharing. There was first time salvations and a broken wrist got healed.
On the Friday morning we got invited by Kingfisher FM, a Christian radio-station in PE, to share testimonies of what God had done this week in PE. How amazing our God is, giving us a opportunity to share live on radio about the goodness of our King.
“What God did with me on the outreach … I got to experience God’s presence and was stretched a lot to prophesy and share my testimony with people I don’t know. I witnessed growth in our team, almost like they stepped out of their cocoons and became alive.”
After a full week where God did so many amazing things it was time to head back. Our next stop was Swellendam, but not before we stopped at Bloukrans bridge where Christopher (‘Spot’) bungee jumped off the world’s highest bridge bungee jump at a height of 216 meters. We arrived at Swellendam where our team mingled up with the youthies from Swellies where they ate together, played games together and prayed for one another.
We joined on Sunday morning with the Joshua Generation congregation in Swellendam where we testified about what God had done throughout the week. Those testimonies influenced the whole meeting in such a God way that the whole church ended up sharing testimonies and praying for those who need breakthrough.
Here are some of the individual testimonies:
- “So in this outreach I pretty much came to to give myself and serve the youth and church, but God has been dealing with my heart and showing me areas I need to give to Him. He’s been doing all that in a way that’s loving and full of kindness.” – Siseko
- “What God did with me on the outreach … I got to experience God’s presence and was stretched a lot to prophesy and share my testimony with people I don’t know. I witnessed growth in our team, almost like they stepped out of their cocoons and became alive.” – Lili-Jean
- “God used me in the gift of prophecy to encourage others. I’m so sad this outreach is over, but I know it won’t stop here. I know God will continue to grow, stretch and work in us.” – Jessica
Throughout this outreach we saw God use us to conquer the devil’s schemes wherever we went.
If you don’t go you’ll never know that its more blessed to give than to receive.
